Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos was fired from his first band QUINN after being told he was too ambitious. Before Kapranos formed Franz Ferdinand in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2001, he was sharing vocal duties in small local band Quinn with frontwoman LOUISE QUINN. Louise admits she spent an hour on the phone with Kapranos telling him there wasn't room for two singers in her group, and bitterly regrets her decision now. She explains, "It's my fault Franz Ferdinand are so huge. Alex played with us for a couple of years. "He was so desperate to play with us so we got him in the band and he played on IN BETWEEN WORLDS, our first album. But he was more motivated than we were. He needed his own band. "I told him, 'I think you're a star and you need to have your own band.' He was quite upset about it."
