Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand have turned to classic children's movie Mary Poppins as a muse for their latest album.

The TAKE ME OUT stars are hoping to employ the magical nanny's tidying up technique, made famous by Julie Andrews in the 1964 film, as a way of tightening up their songs.

Frontman ALEX KAPRANOS says, "One thing we've been trying to do is get this loose-limbed feeling in a song and then tighten it up.

"You know in Mary Poppins when she snaps her fingers and all the clothes tidy themselves up.

"If you can imagine a song where everything suddenly goes really sharp and rigid: there's one song where we've been experimenting with that."
