Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos is frustrated with British politics because he disagrees with the policies of the country's two major parties.

The TAKE ME OUT singer has left-wing sympathies, but he believes the governing Labour group led by Tony Blair has failed to fulfil the promises it made before winning the 1997 and 2001 elections.

However, Kapranos has also criticised the Conservative Party for failing to capitalise on the errors made by their Labour rivals.

Consequently, Kapranos would vote for his own country's revolutionary Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) - who are more left-wing than Labour - if there was an imminent election.

Kapranos says, "It is essential to have the SSP to shake things up even if you don't agree entirely with all their policies.

"I think a lot of people are disillusioned with Labour and the Tories (Conservatives). They feel that neither choice meets their political needs."
