Franz Ferdinand may have to wait another six years to release their soccer anthem - because their native Scotland are struggling to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.

The patriotic band have written a song to accompany Scotland's campaign in the 2006 event in Germany, but the team are languishing second to bottom of their qualifying group, having failed to secure a win from their first three matches.

Now the band fear they may have to wait until the following tournament in 2010 in South Africa to unleash SCOTLAND on fans.

Frontman ALEX KAPRANOS says, "If (coach) BERTI VOGTS' got anything to do with it I doubt (it'll come out) but I'd like to think so one day, definitely one day.

"We'll have to leave it for 2010. S**t!"
