Frankie Sandford's boyfriend is planning to propose.

The Saturdays singer has been dating soccer star Wayne Bridge for less than 10 months but the Manchester City player is so smitten with his 22-year-old girlfriend that he has splashed out on a £40,000, 3.5 carat engagement ring after Frankie mentioned she liked the design.

A friend claims the sportsman is waiting for "the perfect moment" to propose, adding to The Sun newspaper: "He just hopes she says yes."

Frankie - who split from McFly bassist Dougie Poynter last year - recently revealed she hopes to marry Wayne one day and finds it very "romantic" it when he makes time to see her, despite their busy work schedules.

She said: "It's going really well. We're trying to manage us in between my work and his training, so the fact he makes time to see me is what I consider romantic. I hope we do get married in the future. Everyone is trying to marry me off and get me to have babies but I'm not even 25. That is for the future."

Wayne, 31, has a four-year-old son, Jaydon Jean Claude Bridge from his previous relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.
