U.K. comedian Frankie Boyle has gone on a hunger strike to protest against the detention of a British man in Guantanamo Bay.
The funnyman has spoken out in support of Shaker Aamer, who is one of a number of inmates at the American military's controversial detention camp who have stopped eating as part of a demonstration over their treatment.
Boyle has now decided to join the hunger strike himself - he gave up food on Wednesday (17Jul13) and has since been updating his followers on Twitter.com about his progress.
The 41-year-old funny man revealed day two of the protest felt "a bit like being drunk" while day four was "grim" and by day five on Sunday (21Jul13), he had started to notice his weight loss.
Aamer has been on hunger strike in Guantanamo Bay for more than 150 days.
