Actor Frank Langella has been exposed as the actor who gave veteran U.S. newswoman Barbara Walters the chicken pox virus.

The Tv broadcaster, 83, was hospitalised after suffering a fall in January (13) and she was subsequently diagnosed with chicken pox, forcing her to take a six-week hiatus from her job as co-host of daytime talk show The View.

She made a full recovery and returned to the small screen on Monday (04Mar13), when she explained that she had contracted the itchy disease after hugging "a well-known actor who shall remain nameless".

Reports soon surfaced identifying the mystery man as her longtime friend Langella, 75, and on Tuesday (05Mar13), Walters confirmed that the rumours were true, revealing that the Frost/Nixon star had also recently overcome shingles, a painful and highly-contagious skin rash, which is caused by the varicella-zoster virus - the same disease that causes chicken pox.
