Fox News Politics' Twitter account was hacked early today (Monday), making it appear that the cable news channel was reporting the assassination of President Obama. A series of six messages was posted, including "BREAKING NEWS President @BarackObama assassinated, 2 gunshot wounds have proved too much. It's a sad 4th for #america. #obamadead RIP." Another said that the website wishes Joe Biden "the best of luck as our new President of the United States. In such a time of Madness, there's light at the end of the tunnel." The site has 33,620 followers. A group called Scriptkiddies claimed responsibility for the hack. Fox News issued a statement, saying, "The hacking is being investigated, and FoxNews.com regrets any distress the false tweets may have created." Oddly, however, it did not remove the phony tweets from the Twitter site. Instead, it merely posted a tweet, "Just regained full access to our Twitter and email. Happy 4th." The reference to problems with its email account went unexplained.
