The Last King of Scotland, starring Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy, has been selected to open the 50th London Film Festival on Oct. 18. The film, being distributed by Fox Searchlight, tells the story of the relationship between former Ugandan president Idi Amin, played by Whitaker, and a Scottish doctor, played by McAvoy. In a statement, festival director Sandra Hebron said, "The Last King of Scotland is a perfect opening night film for us: a compellingly original British feature from an imaginative and talented young director."
