Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne was so bored by his early stint as a cook in an American chain restaurant, he entertained himself by ruining his patrons' dinners with cigarette ash.
The rocker worked as a cook at Long John Silver's before becoming a full-time musician, and he wasn't above having fun in the kitchen before rising to fame with the group.
He tells SPIN magazine, "I never spit (in the food). But I would do experiments with the coleslaw. I made 50 pounds at a time, and I worked there for almost 12 years, so I made a lot of that.
"And I would get bored. So I'd dump ashtrays literally right into the coleslaw and run it through the cutter, just to see if people would notice. They'd say, 'Oh, something was in my coleslaw!' and I'd be like, 'I don't know about that.'
