First Aid Kit's first American-recorded and Mike Mogis produced album, 'The Lion's Roar' juxtaposes sadness and beauty in the best traditions of folk and country music. They even cite the Louvin Brothers cheerfully brutal version of the old murder ballad 'Knoxville Girl' as the perfect example of the sweet and sour they adore. And this carefully constructed collection deftly succeeds in setting references to their home town of Stockholm and long dark Scandinavian winters against an unforced backdrop of country-rock swing.

'The Lion's Roar' garnered an impressive response with stellar 4/5 reviews from Mojo, Uncut and Q, as well 4.5/5 in The Sun and 5/5 in the Sunday Telegraph. In the last year alone, the Söderberg sisters from Stockholm have worked with Jack White, sung for Patti Smith and toured with Bright Eyes and Lykke Li. First Aid Kit are set to grow even more rapidly based on the strength of this second, most accomplished album. 2012 is shaping up to be their year.
