A representative for KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND co-founder RICHARD R. Finch is adamant the star will be "vindicated" after he was arrested and charged over allegations he had sexual relations with a teenage boy.
The Grammy-winning producer/musician, who played bass with the famous funk band, was detained by police in Ohio on Tuesday (23Mar10) after a 17 year old youth told police he allegedly had sexual contact with the star at his home in Newark.
The boy is said to have made the allegation last week (18Mar10) and cops brought the 56 year old in for questioning on Tuesday.
He has been charged with a fourth-degree felony of gross sexual imposition and is being held on a $250,000 (£166,667) bond, according to local newspaper the Newark Advocate.
Licking County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Chris Slayman, says, "(The alleged victim) had heard of his successful career and met him through music contacts."
Finch has reportedly been living in Newark, Ohio for four years, mentoring young music students.
A representative for the star is adamant the allegations are "unfounded".
A statement posted on Finch's website reads, "We appreciate your contact, but at this time, we have no comment. We will let due process happen through the legal system and through that, we are sure Mr. Finch will be vindicated from (sic) these unfounded allegations."
