Puphedz: The Tattle-Tale Heart

"Very Good"

Puphedz: The Tattle-Tale Heart Review

Cuckoo alert!

Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles set the low bar for puppetry, and while Puphedz avoids the crude sex jokes, it's got puppet gore to spare. In 34 minutes (an alternate version runs 27 minutes), these wood, plastic, and fabric creations enact Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," wherein one puppet is obsessed with the swirling evil eye of his roommate.

It's all tongue-in-cheek and the production values are Wallace and Gromit-good and exquisitely detailed, though the daffy humor tends toward pun-level (and not terribly good puns at that). And then there's the issue of the gore... who knew puppets had so much blood!?

Altogether, this is one bizarro oddity that can be dispensed with inside of a half hour, which I highly recommend you do.

Morning on the hill.
