Field Day, London's most ambitious and forward-thinking festival, is pleased to announce more names on the burgeoning line up, which already includes the likes of Animal Collective, Bat For Lashes, Disclosure, Seth Troxler, Four Tet, Mulatu Astatke, Kurt Vile, Mount Kimbie and many more.
We are very happy to announce that Desperados, the original tequila-flavoured beer, are bringing 'The Factory' to Field Day for the first time. Following the huge success of last year's festival season, they've got another massive line up with some of the hottest new acts and DJs, a few long-standing heroes and a very special guest or two. Get ready for Desperado's at Field Day 2013; it's going to be BIG!
Confirmed for 2013 is legendary house and garage producer Todd Edwards, whose vocal reconstruction techniques and canon of classics from the early nineties has influenced everyone from Disclosure to Daft Punk. No wonder his fans call him 'Todd the God'! Rising UK house stars Waze & Odyssey have taken Todd's baton and run with it with the likes of 'Love Attack' becoming instant classics. Psychemagik have become known for their sensational disco re-edits of Fleetwood Mac and Haim, vast record collections and transcendent mix tapes. Last seen together in the Boiler Room we invite Lil Silva and Mele to play a back-to-back set of carnivalistic beats.
A regular presence on Rinse FM Oneman has the rare ability to destroy any party blending records from disparate genres while sounding seamless as recent mix tape Solitaire Vol. 1 attests. We also welcome Dollop DJs, the guys behind one of the UK's most exciting and pulsating electronic club nights to Victoria Park. Also playing live on the 'The Desperados Factory' stage will be four-piece from Black Butter records Clean Bandit, who call on an array of vocal collaborators to create their unique sound with a culture clash of bass, beats and soaring strings; while Night Slugs, one of the most influential labels in bass music of the moment, will be represented by its founder Bok Bok alongside power producer Girl Unit aka Philip Gamble.
Elsewhere, deep-house giant Ben Pearce, synonymous with his oddly anthemic deep-house debut 'What I Might Do' that dominated club floors across the world in 2012 and went platinum, will take the decks and showcase his vast musical knowledge and ability to play across a wide range of musical genres. Meanwhile Feathers, the first all-female synth pop band in the world according to The Guardian, will hypnotize us with their swirling, harmonic vocals and brilliant use of MIDI.
Also on board is regular 6 Music, XFM presenter and All Back No Front podcaster Jon Hillcock, while Field Day veteran Jen Long will be back again this year to grace Victoria Park with one of her superb DJ sets.
Entering its seventh year, Field Day is returning to the leafy green surroundings of London's Victoria Park on Saturday 25th May. Known for its eclectic and imaginative line-ups, Field Days dance side is as strong as ever. With previous electronic headliners Modeselektor, Justice, Moderat, Audion, Carl Craig's 69, SBTRKT, Richie Hawtin and Jamie xx, this year's Field Day continues to welcome the cream of the electronic crop and showcasing an abundant harvest of future stars.
Taking things in all musical directions are an army of talent including the sonic free form experimentalists Animal Collective, the cerebral and melodic Four Tet, hip hop hero Oneman, and rising stars Jagwar Ma showcase their sweet, seditious chant-rock melodies alongside London's most notorious electronic duo Mount Kimbie.
Also on the agenda are band of brothers Disclosure, performing their unique breed of garage-house that has catapulted them to dizzying heights and chart success. First-class aural delights are ahead from Daphni, the club friendly alias of Caribou's Dan Snaith, Seth Troxler recently voted number 1 DJ by Resident Advisor, Bristol's original bass hero Julio Bashmore, and Montreal producer Jacques Greene, who will be playing LIVE and showcasing his modern combination of house and 2step.
Under the guise of Karenn, the perfectly matched duo formed by R&S labelmates Pariah and Blawan will unleash their mesmerising fusion of deep, bass-heavy sounds and the genre-crossing label Hessle Audio, a pioneering force in UK music, will be represented by its founding members Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound. Hudson Mohawke and Lunice combine to forge TNGHT, taking root alongside the master puppeteer Ben UFO who has taken bass music out of dubstep's shadow. All manner of new electronic wunderkinds lay the foundations of a solid electronic musical landscape including Daniel Avery, Happa, Koreless, Objekt, Throwing Snow, VOLTE-FACE, Shed, Clean Bandit, Psychemagik, Dollop and Kwes.
Hosted by forward-thinking promoters Eat Your Own Ears, Bugged Out!, BleeD/ Lanzarote and proudly partnering with The i Paper, The Quietus, FACT Magazine, Last FM, Resident Advisor, The Line of Best Fit, Abeano, Bleep and Dummy Magazine, Field Day is a festival that has become synonymous with imaginative and progressive bills hosting the likes of Franz Ferdinand, SBTRKT, Afrocubism, Grimes and Django Django last summer; 2013 is certainly shaping up to be no exception to this rule.
As with years gone by, Field Day will be providing ample entertainment for those looking for respite from the music in the Village Mentality area on The Village Green. Expect traditional side stalls inspired by country pastimes and weird and wonderful fete games, from classic tug of war, sack races and egg and spoon race to more unexpected and fantastic ones like tea bag tossing and the world famous winkle picking contest.
