London trio, Bear's Den have announced details of their debut EP 'Agape' for release on 18th March 2013 through Communion Records. Wholesome, warm, and engaging, 'Agape' takes its influence from the likes of Being There era Wilco and Ryan Adams amongst a wealth of both folk and alt-country reference points.
Bear's Den is Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones and a DIY ethos is at the heart of everything they have done since their inception. The band spent 2012 charging around the UK in a van playing to any venue that would have them, picking up support tours with the likes of Of Monsters And Men, Smoke Fairies, and Matt Corby, and concluded the year with a support slot for Mumford & Sons at London's O2 Arena.
Recorded with Kristoffer Harris at a studio in Norfolk, 'Agape' sets out its stall from the opening chords, and is a spellbinding example of Bear's Den's sound. Andrew Davie's lyrics and voice are beautifully fragile, resonating with the clarity of a songwriter almost twice his age. Framed around the ambiguous Greek word for love, Agape is a warm, all-embracing tune that sets a tone throughout the whole 5-track record.
