Felicity Huffman, CHAN-WOON PARK and DAVID LaCHAPELLE were among the winners at the Bangkok International Film Festival in the Thai capital over the weekend (25-25FEB06). The winners were announced in a star-studded ceremony at the city's Conrad Hotel, with PRINCESS UBOL RATTANA in attendance. French screen siren Catherine Deneuve was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Princess for her long film and theatre career. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star Huffman was named Best Actress for her performance as a transsexual in TRANSAMERICA, while South African actor PRESLEY CHAWENEYAGAE was named Best Actor for the Oscar-nominated film TSOTSI. Deepa Mehta's Canadian/Indian film WATER was named Best Picture while Park picked up the Best Director gong for his popular South Korean movie Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Meanwhile, photographer-turned-director LaChapelle picked up the documentary accolade for RIZE, his film about urban street dancers. Over 200 films were presented during the ten day festival, which ended on Monday (28FEB06).
