Blues legend FATS DOMINO has returned to his devastated home in New Orleans for the first time since Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc across America's Gulf Coast region in August (05).
The BLUEBERRY HILL star headed home yesterday (15OCT05) to salvage gold discs and any other valuables spared by the storm.
Domino famously wanted to "ride out the storm" when the disaster struck, but subsequently went missing to the distress of his loved ones.
Although he survived, fans who initially feared the worst had graffitied tributes to him on the walls of his deserted house.
He says, "There was a big 'Rest in Peace' on my balcony on the other house. I'm still here, thank God. I'm alive and kicking."
And despite horrific memories of his ordeal, Domino loves the area too much to move away.
He adds, "I don't know what to do, move somewhere else or something. But I like it down here."
