Fargo actor William H Macy's role as a radio announcer in horse racing movie SEABISCUIT has done nothing to wane his dislike of the equine beasts

But the nervous star concedes the four-legged creatures offer a way to understand the way humans tick.

Macy explains, "When you fall off a horse, you fall a long way. But there's something about telling stories about animals that allows us to empathise even more than we can with people.

"People can see a person get hit by a car and it doesn't do anything compared to seeing a dog get hit by a car. It's just one of the things that makes us human."
