Finnish composer ERIK VALDEMAR BERGMAN died in Helsinki on Sunday night (23APR06). He was 94. The music-maker was internationally acclaimed for his dodecaphonic works and compositions for choirs and was a leading figure in Finnish modernism. Bergman studied in Berlin, Vienna and Switzerland under the tutelage of composer VLADIMIR VOGEL. His last work was entitled Fantasia, and was played in October 2004 by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
