British TV regulator OFCOM is investigating complaints about promos for a new Channel 5 reality series set in a lesbian bar in London's West End, the London Sun reported today (Thursday). The newspaper said that the promos for Candy Bar Girls "featured close-up images suggesting sexual activity." In one, for Example, a woman is seen kneeling down in front of another woman as an announcer remarks, "Pussy loving ladies." The camera then reveals that the woman kneeling down is actually petting a cat in the other woman's lap, as the announcer asks, "Well, what were you expecting?" OFCOM has authority to investigate complaints under its mandate "to provide adequate protection for members of the public from the inclusion in [television] services of harmful and/or offensive material." The Sun said that OFCOM had received 14 complaints about the promos.
