Ewan McGregor's round-the-world travelling companion Charley Boorman has undergone surgery after a testicular cancer scare.
Boorman, son of Deliverance director John Boorman, teamed up with the Trainspotting star for a marathon motorcycle trip from London to New York in 2004.
The pair filmed their adventures for their Long Way Round television series, which also spawned a bestselling book of the same name.
Boorman has revealed he underwent surgery to remove one of his testicles earlier this month (Feb10) after doctors found a lump.
He has now been given the all-clear from medics and is urging other men to check themselves thoroughly.
He says, "The doctors dealt with it very, very quickly. I had a testicle removed and a silicone one put in. I was lucky and everything is fine. In fact, it's quite pretty. Seriously though, it is very important for men to check themselves out properly if they notice any changes. Early diagnosis is key."
