The Sons of Anarchy actor was set to star in the film, alongside Lea Seydoux, but he has reportedly dropped out due to scheduling issues.

According to Deadline, filming is still slated to begin in Montreal, Canada in April (17).

Zoe will be directed by Drake Doremus and will centre on two colleagues who work at a lab designing technology to improve romantic relationships.

This isn't the first time Hunnam has exited a major film due to his hectic schedule - the 36-year-old was originally cast to play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, but dropped out in 2013.

"I was going to finish Sons (of Anarchy) at, like, 11pm Friday night, get on the plane Saturday morning to Vancouver for Fifty, missing the whole first week of rehearsal, and start shooting Monday morning," he told MovieFone.com in 2014. "And I was going to shoot that film, wrap that on the Wednesday and the following Monday I was going to start shooting Crimson Peak in Toronto. I just had, like... something of a nervous breakdown.

"I just said, 'I can't (do this)'... because Fifty's going to be massive, it's going to be huge - I really didn't want to fail on such a grand scale and I just couldn't transition from Jax Teller (Sons of Anarchy character) to Christian Grey in 48 hours. I bit off more than I could chew and it was painful. I loved the character and I wanted to do it."

Charlie was replaced by Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan.
