Rapper/actress Eve was left stunned by the "hateful" reaction she received from fans in 2010 after she began dating white fashion designer and race car driver Maximillion Cooper.

The Who's that Girl hitmaker, who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, met the Brit in London at the Gumball 3000 rally, which he founded in 1999, and they later went public with their romance.

However, Eve was shocked by the nasty comments she received online about the interracial relationship because she couldn't believe how many people were still so divided by race.

She tells U.S. talk show host Katie Couric, "It was shocking. I'm dating a white man and... he's cute. I got heat because I'm this black girl who comes from hip-hop and I'm dating a white man, and honestly... I've always just been a people person... and it (the romance) just so happened to happen. I got so many hateful tweets from people, and I don't understand hate... Get over it. I just really couldn't believe it. Now it's fine. Now it's fine, but I just couldn't believe it."

The rapper, 34, now hopes their love will lead to a marriage proposal. When asked if she would like to settle down with Cooper, she says, "Yeah, I hope so. I definitely do (want to have kids). To me, that's the ultimate blessing, so I can't wait."
