Actress Eva Longoria has slammed at TV critics who berated Desperate Housewives for having too many storylines in its second season.

The Latina beauty claims the show is now more popular than ever, and insists current ratings are "way higher than last year".

She says, "On most shows, you have to wait years to find out who murdered Mary Alice, or those kind of mysteries. (Creator) MARC CHERRY is really great at getting the story done and tying up loose ends."

ABC entertainment president STEPHEN McPHERSON says the producers "got away from the heart and soul of the show" at the start of the season, but adds, "I don't look at it as a slump, because clearly America still loves the show."
