Singer Esma Redzepova has died at the age of 73.
The MACedonian singer reportedly passed away in Skopje on Sunday (11Dec16), following a brief illness.
Redzepova started her career in the 1950s and was best known for the music she made with her husband Stevo Teodosievski, who wrote many of her songs and managed her career until his death in 1997. She was also the recipient of several awards and honours, including the Norwegian Academy of Literature and Freedom of Expression accolade and Order of Merit for MACedonia.
In addition to music, Redzepova also starred in several films including Krst Rakoc, Yugovizija, and Rromani Soul.
She was also known for her humanitarian efforts and founded a music school for disadvantaged boys.
