Stone signed on to play the 101 Dalmatians character in a live-action spin-off and reports have now surfaced suggesting Timbers will take charge of the film.

Movie bosses are planning to start production early next year (17) and the film will centre on the villain's origin story.

The news comes after Timbers split with Disney executives over the Broadway adaptation of hit film Frozen earlier this year (16).

The project is part of a growing number of live-action titles based on classic Disney films, including Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Pete's Dragon. The studio is still mining its back catalogue and has plans for other live-action works, including a movies based on The Little Mermaid with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Beauty And The Beast starring Emma Watson, and Dumbo spearheaded by Tim Burton.
