Eminem has claimed the Christmas number one spot in the US album charts after his greatest hits collection CURTAIN CALL staved off a late charge from AMERICAN IDOL star Carrie Underwood.

Curtain Call sold 324,000 copies in its second week on release - almost 50,000 more than Underwood's SOME HEARTS, which jumped up the new chart from five to two.

Hits compilation NOW! THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC 20 also climbed up the chart - from four to three, while American Idol runner-up BO BICE scored the week's highest entry with his debut REAL THING, which sold 227,000 copies to make it to the number four spot.
