British actress Emily Blunt insisted her character in The Devil Wears Prada be made-up to look completely over-the-top, because she was a fashion victim. Blunt, who dates singer Michael Buble, plays an assistant to a high-fashion magazine editor in the film and wanted her character to have exaggerated make-up and clothes. She explains, "I really pushed for the fire-engine red hair and excessive makeup. "The character is so on the edge of fashion, she's falling off it. "And I wanted her to look really intimidating, like she'd be your worst nightmare."
