Oscar-winning songwriter JOEL HIRSCHHORN has died of a heart attack. He was 67.
The composer, who won two Academy Awards for scoring disaster movies THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and THE TOWERING INFERNO, died in a Thousand Oaks, California, hospital on Sunday (18SEP05).
The New York City-born artist performed in a rock band, before composing songs for Elvis Presley and a string of hit movies, TV and Broadway shows.
Hirschhorn is survived by his wife JENNIFER CARTER HIRSCHHORN, his stepsons KEVIN and BRENT CARTER, his mother EVELYN HIRSCHHORN and his sister MADELEINE DESJARDINS.
