Elvis Presley's old teddy-bear, which had been snapped up at auction for $75,000 (GBP40,000), has been torn apart by a guard dog. Millionaire SIR BENJAMIN SLADE, the proud owner of the aged toy, was devastated to hear Dobermann BARNEY had savaged teddy-bear MABEL - the very item he was meant to be guarding. Slade, 97, who bought Mabel at a sale in Memphis, Tennessee, donated the toy to Wookey Hole Caves Teddy Bear Museum near Wells, Somerset in south west England. He is "too distraught to comment". GREG WEST, Barney's handler, says, "Barney has been a model guard dog for six years. I can't believe what happened. "It could have been jealousy, I was stroking Mabel and saying what a nice little bear she was."
