The two-part, three-hour documentary has the full co-operation of the Presley estate, and according to HBO bosses, will include "unprecedented access to Graceland archives", never-before-soon photos, footage from inside Presley's other homes and new interviews with musicians, producers, engineers and directors who worked with The King.

Thom Zimny, who worked previously for HBO on two Bruce Springsteen documentaries The Ties That Bind and The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town, will direct.

Elvis Presley died in August, 1977, aged 42.
