BEN HUR, Elvis Presley's JAILHOUSE ROCK, the original NUTTY PROFESSOR and films teaching children to "duck and cover" during the Cold War between Russia and America are being added to America's NATIONAL FILM REGISTRY.

Authorities at the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS will add 25 films to the registry, which now holds 400 pictures, in 2005.

The library heads pick films to preserve every year.

Also on this year's list include Schindler's List, Andy Warhol's eight-hour tribute to the Empire State Building, EMPIRE, and DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST - the first feature-length film by a black woman to receive a full theatrical release.
