Flower-mad rocker SIR Elton John has had a state-of-the-art irrigation system installed at his English mansion to boost his blooms.

The ROCKET MAN star spent GBP300,000 (GBP200,000) on the computerised technology to give his garden in Windsor, Berkshire a regular flow of water.

But water board chiefs claim they could not supply enough to serve his year-round needs - so the ageing hitmaker made his own arrangements.

A source says, "He asked for a well to be dug. He's tapped direct into the water table."

Sir Elton is famous for splashing out on flowers - he once spent $440,000 (GBP293,000) on blooms in 20 months.
