Extravagant pop star SIR Elton John is disputing a multi-million pound tax bill going back 14 years.

The international superstar is well-known for his lavish lifestyle, which he funds through vast earnings generated through number one albums and sell-out world tours.

The claim is described as an "ongoing dispute" by officials at COMPANIES HOUSE, where Elton's accountants WILLIAM A BONG have lodged the query.

A pal of the ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE hitmaker explains, "He can easily afford the amount in question. But he strongly believes the Revenue has got it wrong and he doesn't owe anything."

Elton once famously blew $464,000 (GBP290,000) on flowers, and owns a string of homes around the globe.
