Singer-songwriter LEON RUSSELL is set to perform with Elton John on 'Good Morning America' tomorrow (Wednesday 20th October 2010). The performance will come live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City, and the duo will be showcasing new music from their upcoming album 'The Union', as well as playing an ELTON JOHN classic.
The forthcoming album marks the first time the pair have worked together in over 40-years, and the record also features guests vocals from the likes of Neil Young and Brian Wilson. Recorded live in the studio and produced by T BONE BURNETT, 'The Union' boasts a variety of musical styles, including R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop, and rock. Legendary steel guitarist ROBERT RANDOLPH, and renowned organist BOOKER T JONES also feature on the album.
The record is released today (October 19th 2010) on Decca, and after tomorrow's live performance, 'Good Morning America's' ROBIN ROBERTS will sit down with Elton and Leon to discuss the collaboration in an exclusive interview. Speaking about the album to USA Today, Elton said, "I've never had such a personal experience making a record and it's given me verification that what I should do in the future is make records like this".
