Late actress Elizabeth Pena is set to receive a special posthumous honour at the upcoming National Hispanic Media Coalition (Nhmc) Impact Awards Gala.

The La Bamba actress passed away at the age of 55 in October (14), and on Friday (20Feb15), her life will be commemorated as part of a tribute presented by her close friend, actor Andy Garcia.

Pena was previously honoured with the Nhmc Impact Award 15 years ago, acknowledging her trailblazing achievements that paved the way for Latinos in Hollywood.

Other stars set to receive awards include Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez for her star turn in U.S. comedy Jane the Virgin, singer/actor Carlos Ponce, who will be feted with the Outstanding Performance in a Television Series award for his role in freshman sitcom Cristela, and director Jorge Gutierrez, who will be given the Outstanding Direction in a Motion Picture trophy for his work in animated fantasy-adventure film The Book of Life.

The awards will be handed out during the annual gala in Beverly Hills, California, with actresses Roselyn Sanchez and Lisa Vidal co-hosting the event.
