Elin Nordegren could receive up to £480 million in settlement after getting divorced from golfer Tiger Woods. The couple both attended a hearing at Bay County Circuit Court in Florida on Monday 24th August 2010, at which their marriage was finalised and described as 'irretrievably broken'. There has been intense speculation as to the exact settlement Nordegren will receive from the divorce, however, Hello Magazine reports that, "Details of the divorce settlement received by Elin will remain private. But estimates of the amount range from £65 million to £480 million". In September 2009, Forbes revealed that Woods had become the first ever sportsman to earn more than $1 billion dollars, stating, "Our calculations show that the $10 million bonus Woods earned winning this year's FedEx Cup title nudged him over the $1 billion mark in career earnings".
Nordegren and Woods - who will share custody of their children Sam and Charlie - have been at the centre of a media whirlwind since it was revealed back in November 2009 that the world's number-one golfer had a string of affairs. The ensuing frenzy that followed led to Woods announcing he would take an indefinite leave from golf in an attempt to fix his marriage.
Nordegren - a Swedish-American model - married Woods in October 2004, at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados. The exclusive guest-list for the event included talk show host Oprah Winfrey, and basketball star Michael Jordan.
