British rockers Elbow halted their gig at Spain's Benicassim music festival on Friday (15Jul11) to prevent a crush in the crowds.
The band took to the main stage at the event and performed several songs, before frontman Guy Garvey became concerned when he noticed how cramped devotees were.
He told the crowd, "It's a bit of a squeeze down the front, make sure you're kind to everybody around you."
Garvey's comments did little to calm the enthusiastic revellers and he felt compelled to pause the set once more to urge fans to give each other a little more room.
He said, "Wait a minute, everybody step back. Everyone's getting crushed down here. C'mon, step back, we've got a gig to do."
The group then continued with their nine-song set.
