The 26-year-old singer/songwriter was dead set on making a record where his songs are sung by the purrs and meows of pussies, but ditched his plans when he found out it had already been done before.
According to The Sun newspaper, he said: ''I really, really wanted to make a Meowlbum, which is all my songs with Meow in it.
''My cats are twin sisters and amazing in their own way.''
Though a feline-featuring record is no longer on the cards, fans of the 'Shape of You' hitmaker can expect a 'Despacito' sounding version of his latest single 'Perfect, which features a massive star, who will be unveiled later today (28.11.17).
The smash single from the flame-haired star's latest LP 'Divide could be about to shift up the charts with the updated Latin version due for release on December 1.
Ed recently revealed: ''I've got something dropping next Friday. It's a really f***ing big deal. And I'll drop who I'm doing it with next Thursday.''
