The British singer/songwriter earned a nod for Bloodstream, and The Weeknd landed on the shortlist with Can't Feel My Face.

Both acts are now up for two prizes after Ed and The Weeknd were previously featured in the nominations for British Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year respectively.

Other Song of the Year contenders include Ellie Goulding (Love Me Like You Do), Hozier (Take Me To Church), Jess Glynne (Hold My Hand), Jason Derulo (Want To Want Me) and OMI (Cheerleader).

A number of collaborations also feature on the shortlist including Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (Uptown Funk), Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth (See You Again) and Major Lazer and DJ Snake featuring MO (Lean On).

The Song of the Year winner is decided by a public vote, which opens on Wednesday (09Dec15), ahead of the ceremony in Birmingham, England on Thursday (10Dec15).

Adele and Florence + The MAChine also scored nominations for British Artist of the Year and BBC Live Performance of the Year.
