The young star was filming the third instalment of the post-apocalyptic franchise when he was run over by a car.

Dylan was admitted to a hospital in Vancouver, Canada with "severe injuries", but it appears the mishap hasn't put him off action films, and he's now in negotiations to lead the cast of the adaptation of Vince Flynn's novel.

According to Deadline.com, the 24-year-old is circling the role of Mitch Rapp, a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative who conducts top-secret counter-terrorism operations for the organisation.

Michael Keaton is taking on the role of Rapp's Cold war veteran mentor.

Meanwhile, it is unclear when filming on the latest Maze Runner movie will resume. Production was slated to start again this month (16). However, it has now been postponed indefinitely.

"His injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recover," O'Brien's publicist, Jennifer Allen, told Entertainment Weekly in a statement last month (Apr16).

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is still slated to be released in February (17).
