The race row over this year's Academy Awards continues to rage, with everyone from George Clooney to Lupita Nyong'o speaking out at the snub to black actors and filmmakers. Double Oscar-winner Dustin has now added his voice to the debate.

"Our county there's a subliminal racism and it's been there... the end of the civil war didn't change that , it's only been 200 years," The American star matter-of-factly told the BBC. "I mean this is just an example of it."

Hollywood heavyweights and fans alike are outraged that the likes of Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation, which received a Golden Globe and BAFTA nomination, and Will Smith for Concussion, which also got a Golden Globe nod, failed to receive an Oscars recognition.

Idris has spoken out over the controversy, addressing the entertainment industry as a whole and where black actors fit into it. Will Smith's wife Jada has also been vocal with her views on the matter.

However Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress Janet Hubert slammed Jada for not focusing on the real issues facing the black community.

“There’s lots of s**t going on in the world that you all don’t seem to recognise,” Janet vented in video message. “People are dying. Our boys are being shot left and right. People are starving. People are trying to pay bills. And you’re talking about some actors and Oscars. It’s just ain’t that deep.”

Dustin agrees that there are bigger problems, and spoke about the issues that really need to be resolved. "Rather than black entertainers being nominated, there's a bigger problem with young black individuals being killed on the streets by police," he continued to the BBC. "That's a bigger problem."

Clueless actress Stacey Dash also slammed Jada's Oscar's boycott as "ludicrous".

"We have to make up our minds," she told Fox & Friends. "Either we want to have segregation or integration. If we don't want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the (NAACP) Image Awards, where you're only awarded it you're black."
