The filmmaker was reluctant to cast Simpson as DAISY DUKE in the movie version of the 1970s TV series - but she eventually convinced him she was perfect for the role.
CHANDRASEKHAR says, "I told the studio I wouldn't stunt-cast, that I didn't care who was popular at the moment, unless they could act.
"I expected her to be a diva. In the first take of her audition, she was nervous and stilted. I started making suggestions, and she incorporated everything I said, immediately. By the time we were done, she'd nailed it."02/08/2005 02:57
