A wave of 2013's most hotly tipped electronic music acts have been announced for Bournemouth metropolitan music festival The Block Party, taking place on Saturday 4th May. The event promises to be a dance music answer to Brighton's 'The Great Escape' festival, with 2,500 people set to descend on six venues in the seaside town for a 12 hour programme of over thirty DJs & live acts.
First names announced are from across the spectrum of electronic music, including house music pioneer Miguel Campbell, much buzzed future-garage duo Bondax, BBC Radio 1 new boy Jackmaster, drum & bass stalwart Friction plus Duke Dumont, Maxxi Soundystem, Toyboy & Robin and Linguistics. Trendsetting house music bloggers Eton Messy are announced as the first of six venue hosts, while the event also sees an appearance from veteran reggae DJ & festival legend DJ Derek. Over 25 more artists are set to be announced over the coming weeks and early bird tickets are on-sale now.
Organised by the team behind the monthly Bournemouth club night 'We Are Your Friends' the event, now in its filth year, takes place biannually in the Lansdowne district of Bournemouth across a mix of venues & spaces. The event has previously seen big name artists, including the likes of Example, SBTRKT, Crystal Fighters, DJ Fresh, TEED and AlunaGeorge, perform intimate early career sets.
Away from the artist line-up organisers have announced a host of other attractions, including a tiny silent disco, interactive arts & crafts, after parties and art installations, with more details to be announced soon.
