In a deal that signals the ongoing decline of the video disc, Dreamworks Animation is reportedly ready to offer Netflix exclusive rights to stream its films, according to Bloomberg News, which cited a person with knowledge of the situation. The Deal could be concluded as early as this week when each company reports quarterly results. DreamWorks Animation has been looking for ways to offset the deep slump in DVD and Blu-ray sales that has affected most of the industry in recent years, while Netflix has been moving away from its disc-by-mail rental service and focusing on its streaming service. The Hollywood Reporter reported that HBO, which currently has an exclusive agreement with DWA, has agreed to end the contract two years early, thereby giving Netflix access to DWA movies from the beginning of 2013.
