SLYVESTER STALLONE's upcoming boxing reality show The Contender has hit a snag, after bosses' attempts to block the debut of a rival series were blocked for a second time.

Rival FOX show THE NEXT GREAT CHAMP, featuring boxing ace OSCAR DE LA HOYA, remains on course to hit US TV screens on 7 September (04), after a California judge rejected a challenge by the producers of Stallone's show, which premieres in November (04).

Dreamworks and MARK BURNETT, who are producing The Contender for American TV network NBC, have twice tried to stop the show based on a critical report by the former chairman of California's athletic commission.

A dreamworks spokesman says Contender producers, who have accused Fox of stealing their idea and rushing it on the air, will review whether to appeal the decision.
