Don Mclean's ex-wife has accused the veteran singer of violating a protection order by posting about her on Twitter.
The American Pie hitmaker split from Patrisha, his wife of almost 30 years, last year (16), not long after police were called to their marital home in Camden, Maine following a heated dispute, which resulted in the singer being charged with misdemeanour domestic violence.
They finalised their divorce in June (16), and earlier this month (Mar17), Patrisha obtained a two-year protection order against her ex, preventing Don from making disparaging remarks about his former spouse on social media.
However, Patrisha claims the 71-year-old broke the terms of the ruling less than 48 hours after it had been issued, and she is now seeking to have Don held in contempt of court.
In the tweet in question, which appeared to have been posted by the star himself, Don told fans he was "delighted" by the news of the restraining order, "since it protects me from her for two wonderful years".
Patrisha's lawyer filed new papers detailing the accusation in a Maine court on Tuesday (21Mar17), reports The Associated Press.
Don's attorney has since branded the claim "unfortunate".
It's not the first time MCLean has been told to stay away from Patrisha. She was also granted a temporary protective order after their bust-up in January, 2016, but had it lifted days later to allow the pair to try and work through its marital problems before splitting for good.
Meanwhile, Don pleaded guilty to domestic violence assault, and was given a $3,000 (£2,400) fine and ordered to stay out of trouble for the next year.
