Actor Dominic West has filmed a moving promotional video for a British children's charity urging members of the public to contact authorities if they suspect a youngster is suffering abuse.

The Wire star has thrown his support behind a new campaign called Don't wait until you're certain by Britain's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (Nspcc).

He has filmed a video for the cause, urging anyone who is worried about a child to get in touch with the organisation.

West says, "You've seen something, it's probably nothing but it doesn't feel quite right. It's just a hunch, a doubt, a gut feeling. But you can't get it out of your head. What if you're wrong, but what if you're right?... The longer you deliberate over child abuse, the greater the risk to the child in question. It could be nothing. But it could be something. If you're worried about a child, don't wait until you're certain. Contact the Nspcc."
