Actor Richard E. Grant has been cast in the new series of Doctor Who.
The news was announced by the Bbc via the programme's official account on Monday (06Aug12) after producers revealed an "iconic" star is set to appear in the hit British TV show.
Grant is to play a villain in a Christmas special this year (12) and he will appear alongside fellow actor Tom Ward, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
Further details of the British star's role are soon to be revealed but the actor has worked on the sci-fi show before after lending his voice to the Ninth Doctor in spin-off animated series Scream of the Shalka, which appeared on the web in 2003.
