Embattled rap newcomer Bobby Shmurda is one step closer to regaining his freedom after posting $2 million (£1.25 million) bond.

The Hot Boy hitmaker, real name Ackquille Pollard, has been behind bars in New York since December (14), when he was arrested alongside 14 members of his entourage on a variety of charges, including murder, attempted murder, assault, weapons possession, reckless endangerment, and criminal use of a firearm.

Shmurda himself pleaded not guilty to counts of conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia on Thursday (29Jan15) and now bail bondsman to the stars, Ira Judelson, has put up the funds for his release.

He is expected to walk free from the Manhattan Detention Complex this week (begs02Feb15), according to the New York Times.

The rapper is next due in court on 22 April (15).

Judelson has previously helped hip-hop veterans Ja Rule and DMX with their legal woes.
